I updated my 100 things today on the about me page..

I lost most of them  in the move to new hosting - so I made a new list.

I am still not finished with the them change, etc. Hopefully - it will be complete soon.

I need to figure out how to get my about me page to the about me - I know that doesnt make sense but I want to put it on the about me page at the top of the left sidebar.

I am sure that I will (or Cody) will get it figured out soon.

I made this Green Bean and Cherry Tomato Salad that I found over at Smitten Kitchen for the church potluck yesterday. It was so pretty and quite delicious. I wish that I would have taken a picture of mine, but I forgot.

Do you ever have those days when you have nothing to wear? Sometimes I totally flip out and have clothes in heaps all over my bedroom by the time I actually find something to wear. I hate those days when I have tried on everything in my closet and everything looks horrible. Do you have those days? I do. A lot. I used to just go buy new clothes to wear at the last minute as a remedy to this problem. Ok - sometimes I still do, but I have done MUCH better.

Some of you may ask, where does one buy a last minute outfit in a small town? It is quite the dilemma. In a town with no mall, no department stores, not even a Target, this presents a huge challenge for the “nothing to wear I need a last minute outfit” days. There is of course, as any small town has, Wal-Mart. I know, I know…. Yuck.

So one day a couple of years ago, I was heading to Atlanta for a day of shopping with a friend. We were going to meet up with another friend, have lunch at Bluepointe, then spend the afternoon at shopping in Buckhead.

So of course I had nothing to wear. I finally was able to put something together, but I needed a white button up blouse to complete the ensemble. So I headed out to Wal-Mart where I found a suitable shirt. It was just a white button up, with a little ribbing.

We had a great lunch, then headed to Neiman’s to get this. Then we headed over to Phipp’s Plaza to go to Jeffery’s and Jil Sander.

jeffery’s atlanta

Jeffrey’s founder Jeffrey Kalinsky is the purveyor of two successful luxury specialty stores, Jeffrey New York and Jeffrey Atlanta.

Jeffrey is a fashion icon, he was raised in retail. He got started in his father’s shoe store, Bob Ellis Shoes, in Charleston, SC. From what I understand his New York store was one of the first specialty boutiques in what is now the very hip, meat packing district. This was even parodied by Jimmy Fallon, Sean Hayes, and Will Ferrell on Saturday Night Live. See the skit here.

So anyway.. when we arrived at Jeffrey’s, we were surprised to discover that Jeffrey was in the store. Normally I I guess he is out traveling the world. My two friends actually know Jeffrey, they have been long time customers of his. He was so happy to see them, and he greeted my friends warmly. They then introduced me to Jeffrey, at which time he said, ” I loove that shirt!”

Oh my.. I was could not believe that Jeffrey Kalinsky complemented my shirt, a shirt from Walmart. Surrounded by a sea of crocodile Manolo Blahnik pumps and patent leather Prada bags, Jeffrey liked my shirt.

Tax season is over….. If any of you work in the Tax industry, you know that is a big sigh of relief.

sick…

Saturday, April 14th, 2007

Oh my, I have been sick for the past few days. I am feeling a little better (I am out of bed at least). I have felt like poo. Here are a few things I learned while in bed:

:: National Geographic Channel is airing a special, A Man Among Wolves. It is about a man, Shaun Ellis, who teaches abandoned wolf cubs how to be wolves by living as a wolf with the pack. Yes it is very weird. He apparently howls, licks, growls, and even eats carcass meat with them.

man among wolves

:: My grandpa died.

:: Heather from OMSH is my swap buddie for the Color Me Happy Swaparooni. That is incredibly fun.

:: Really all that is one TV during the day is programming targeted to people that are ready to sue. Have you ever noticed the plethora of commercials that are for personal injury attorneys? Like this and this ? These commercials are sandwiched in between shows like Judge Joe Brown and the People’s Court.

I feel like I have been away for 2 weeks. It seems like forever since I have seen everyone. I am really excited about feeling better soon. I still feel yucky.

Today is the last Saturday I have to work for a really long time. Tax Season is almost over. Hooray!

eighth grade shame

Saturday, April 7th, 2007

As some of you are reading my blog, you may have noticed a typo. Yes…. I am a horrible typist. I’m not exactly a hunt and pecker, but I do not type correctly. There is a precise reason for this. It is a shameful story, but it is about time I confessed.

I CHEATED IN MY 8th GRADE KEYBOARDING CLASS.

Yes me, the Valedictorian, cheated. It was the only time though and it was for very good reason. I really needed to socialize.

It was way back in 1990, in our school computer lab we used First Choice as our word processor. Does anyone else remember that program? I think it was DOS based. Anyway, my friend and roommate(boarding school), Lacey was struggling with the class, well she struggled with all the classes. Chit-chatting was all she really wanted to do in class and to be honest at that time, I didn’t see the importance of being a good typist. After all I was going to be an anesthesiologist.
All we really had to do in that class was type the same paragraph over and over for an hour. I figured out how to copy the paragraph and paste (Yeah I know we all know about CTL-C and CTRL-V now, but that way was back in the day) it as many times as we needed it. That left most of the class available for socializing. What fun! I thought I was soooo smart.

Well it turns out 17 years later, I wasn’t quite so smart. I pay for it every day. Thank goodness Google corrects my typos/spelling. And if you see any typo here or anywhere else from me, please forgive me and you can even chuckle a bit.
