pretty orchid

March 16th, 2009

Finally - I have some pics of the pretty Orchid sweet Cody gave me for Valentine’s Day. The pics aren’t that great, but hopefully you can see how beautiful it is.  It is huge - and beautiful and I love it!! It was so much better than a bouquet of roses which would be dead by now.

still movin…

February 21st, 2009

I updated my 100 things today on the about me page..

I lost most of them  in the move to new hosting - so I made a new list.

I am still not finished with the them change, etc. Hopefully - it will be complete soon.

I need to figure out how to get my about me page to the about me - I know that doesnt make sense but I want to put it on the about me page at the top of the left sidebar.

I am sure that I will (or Cody) will get it figured out soon.

love extravagantly…

February 20th, 2009

Loving people is not as easy as it seems in concept.  Sometimes I stuggle with loving all the people around me in the way that I should.

Even though very common,  chapter 13 in 1 Corinthians help remind me of what love really is and how much I lack to really show the people in this wold true love.I am still a work in progress  - thankful that God is still making progress in me.

We are nothing without love.  I want to love extravagantly…

If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don’t love, I’m nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. If I speak God’s Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, “Jump,” and it jumps, but I don’t love, I’m nothing. If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.

Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.

Love never dies. Inspired speech will be over some day; praying in tongues will end; understanding will reach its limit. We know only a portion of the truth, and what we say about God is always incomplete. But when the Complete arrives, our incompletes will be canceled.

When I was an infant at my mother’s breast, I gurgled and cooed like any infant. When I grew up, I left those infant ways for good.

We don’t yet see things clearly. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us!

But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love.

WOW… good stuff.

lemony goodness…

February 17th, 2009

I recently picked up some J.R. Watkins cleaner and hand soap from Target.  It is lemony fresh and all natural.  I was a little hesitant to buy it - because I am totally a Clorox girl. I unsure if these natural cleaners could really do the job?

I was pleasantly surprised.  It is great. These all natural plant based cleaners are safe for the people and the environment with no toxins and they really do a great job cleaning too.  I have only tried the spray cleaner and hand soap, but I am definitely sold.

Next time you are at Target, pick some up and give it a try.

coverlet..

February 14th, 2009

So my new CB2 coverlet came in the mail yesterday and with very cool packaging I might add! So when I got home from work - the first thing I did was throw it in the washer - but there was one problem? It says line dry - huh. I live in an apartment with no line to dry. Do most people have a clothesline? How do you line dry a quilt with no line?

Do you think it will ruin if I put it in the dryer?

I went ahead and washed it and put it on air fluff in the dryer for 30 minutes.  It was still really wet - so I put it on low heat in the dryer for another 20 minutes - then I got it out and draped part of it over the back of my sofa to create a “tent.”  How do you do these things? Do you think I can just dry it?
